Kitchen Refresh: From Builder Grade to Beautiful

Kitchen Refresh: From Builder Grade to Beautiful

This post is sponsored by Build. As always, all opinions are my own.

Many people are surprised to know that our home is a semi-custom home built in development by one builder. Building custom in the city we wanted to live in wasn’t even close to being in our budget, so going this route gave us the option to customize all of our finishes, alter the floor plan, and build a home we love, in a more affordable price range.

We were surprised by the selections our builder offered, making it truly feel like we had the option of a custom home, except for one category: the kitchen.

I had a vision for what I wanted our kitchen to look like from day one: white cabinets + brass accents. Unfortunately, our builder didn’t even offer brass hardware or faucets, so that wasn’t an option for me.

As it turns out, that was just as well, because I’m fairly certain Barry might have lost his mind if I upgraded one. more. thing. during our build. So, the kitchen accessories, if you will, moved to the “keep builder grade for now, update later” category (which by the way, is a great way to save money if you’re building as well because builders tend to mark up “upgrades” heavily).

Time for Some Updates!

After about a year, I decided it was time to bring my brass and white kitchen to life, and I scoured the internet trying to find the perfect hardware to complete our space. In case you’ve ever tried to match finishes over a computer screen, this is hard work, so I was thrilled to have found the exact hardware I’d been looking for on Build!

Top Knobs Kinney 1-1/2 Inch Mushroom Cabinet Knob from the Lynwood Collection

I still needed to match the faucets to my hardware, and I was able to use both chat and phone support with Product Experts at build.com to help choose the product and finish that best matched my hardware, I just cannot even tell you how happy I am with the result.

I kind of squinted my eyes and held my breath when I opened the package in person, scared of how different the finishes could be, and you can’t imagine how happy I am that they complement each other perfectly!

Simple Change, Big Impact

Isn’t it amazing how such a seemingly small detail like pulls, knobs, and faucets, can transform a space? I love the softness the brass brings to our kitchen. Check out the before and after below!

My only regret is not pulling the trigger sooner, and I was truly blown away by the helpfulness of the Product Experts at Build.

If you’re considering some home updates, I would encourage you to reach out to them for your next project – I’ve searched what feels like the entire internet, and I think they have products for every style, and at the best price around.
