The Woodstock Road Tree Lot Is Off Big John's List This Year. Here's Where Roswell Finds a Tree Now.

In fall 2025, the Roswell entry on Big John's Christmas Trees' locations page gave an address, "1340 Woodstock Road, Hwy 92," described the spot as "next to former Christ United Methodist," and listed hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You could stop on the way home from work on a Tuesday night, stand a Fraser fir up under the lights, and have it on the roof rack in 10 minutes.

The 2026 locations page lists four lots. They are in Buckhead Village, Brookhaven, Ansley Mall and Dunwoody, and Roswell isn't one of them. This year, a Roswell household's tree trip runs south to a lot in Dunwoody or north to a farm in Milton, Forsyth or Hall County. On the farm route, the farm's calendar sets the trip.

The lot is becoming Roswell Station

The land on Woodstock Road has a new plan. ToNeTo Atlanta reported on Oct. 9 that Atlanta-based SJC Ventures is developing Roswell Station at 1340 Woodstock Road. The center would cover about six acres, with a 30,060-square-foot Whole Foods Market and 30,377 square feet of small-shop space spread across three buildings. The outlet reported that the store would sit behind Westminster Japanese Church, which stays, and that the development will absorb the land Big John's used each season. A new Roswell fire station is planned for the corner of Bowen Road and Woodstock Road, across Highway 92 from the Target-anchored Roswell Corners shopping center.

The city has already signed off on the site plan. At its June 22 meeting, the Roswell City Council unanimously approved a modification of zoning conditions, with concurrent variances, for the project the city calls Bowen & 92. The approved plan splits the property into three parcels: the fire station, the retail space and the existing church site. That's according to the city's council recap. Appen Media reported that 13 variances were approved. The Whole Foods is expected to open in the second half of 2028.

So the corner that sold Christmas trees will eventually sell groceries every day of the year. Until then, the closest lot in the Big John's network is no longer in Roswell.

The closest lot is now in Dunwoody

Big John Livaditis started selling Christmas trees in Buckhead in 1949, in the parking lot of his other business, Zesto, according to Rough Draft Atlanta's 75th-anniversary profile. The company is still family-run and calls 2026 its 77th anniversary. Its homepage says fresh trees arrive November 18.

Last year's page had more stops around the northern suburbs. The October 2025 version listed a Suwanee lot on Peachtree Parkway and a Vinings lot as well as Roswell. For Roswell, the nearest 2026 lot is the one in Dunwoody Village Shopping Center at 5555 Chamblee Dunwoody Road. The Brookhaven lot is at University Baptist Church, 1375 Fernwood Circle NE. All four lots keep the same hours as before, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

If you still want the late-evening, any-night-of-the-week tree run, you'll find it in Dunwoody. Every other option in this post keeps shorter hours, which matters most on weeknights.

North of Roswell, the farm sets the schedule

These three farms have published their 2026 opening dates. They also run on tighter calendars than a city lot.

Farm Address 2026 opening Hours and season What's on offer
Little River Farms 14505C Batesville Road, Alpharetta Friday, Nov. 20 Posted on its Instagram and Facebook Cut-your-own farm-grown trees, pre-cut Fraser firs up to 12 feet, holiday shop, hot cocoa bar
Bottoms Christmas Tree Farm 5880 John Burruss Road, Cumming Saturday, Nov. 21 Season runs through Dec. 19; Thanksgiving week Mon. to Sat., 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; after that Mon. to Fri., 3 to 6 p.m., and Sat., 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed Sundays Choose-and-cut at $10 per foot, individually priced Fraser firs from North Carolina
Kinsey Family Farm 7140 Jot-em Down Road, Gainesville Saturday, Nov. 21 Daily hours vary by date; closed Thanksgiving; closes for the year the weekend before Christmas Christmas activities with posted daily hours

Little River Farms is the closest, and it has a Milton history. The family says it has run the farm in Milton since the 1950s and is now "bringing our hometown some Christmas cheer." Its mailing address says Alpharetta, but the farm asks visitors to turn in at the Wildflower Barn entrance, at the corner of Batesville Road and Taylor Road, instead of the Little River Farms entrance. Hours, inventory and Santa details go up on its Christmas page and its @christmasatlittleriverfarms social accounts.

Bottoms Christmas Tree Farm runs the tightest weekday schedule. After Thanksgiving week, the farm is open three hours on weekdays, from 3 to 6 p.m., and closed on Sundays. Saturdays are the only full days left between November 28 and the season's last day, December 19. The farm's site says it has more than 5,000 choose-and-cut trees in the fields, hands you the saw, and welcomes dogs on a leash. Leyland and Murray cypress have the deepest stock, with three full fields of 8- to 11-foot trees. This year the Carolina Sapphire and white pines top out at about 8 feet, and only a few Virginia pines reach about 10 feet. If you're after a Fraser fir, timing matters more. Bottoms says its Fraser selection is generally strong through the first weekend of December and that it posts updates as sizes sell out.

Kinsey Family Farm is the longest drive, and it's the one where the route matters most. Alpharetta Now's 2026 farm guide gives the directions: take Georgia 400 north six miles past the Exit 17 bridge, turn right on Jot-em Down Road, and go four miles. The guide also passes on the farm's warning that some GPS apps send drivers to a small growing field two miles west of the main farm. The same guide reports that field trees are tagged with height and price in early November, and that last season the final tractor run to the fields left at 5:30 p.m.

Two Milton names come up every year. Scottsdale Farms, at 15639 Birmingham Highway, sells pre-cut firs from 2 to 14 feet in its Enchanted Christmas Tree Forest. It usually opens the day after its first truckload arrives, about a week before Thanksgiving. Hunter's Christmas Tree Farm on Wood Road in Milton has sold choose-and-cut trees in past seasons. Alpharetta Now lists its number as 770-475-0713.

The season, date by date

Put the posted dates in order and you have a short calendar:

  1. Wednesday, Nov. 18. Fresh trees arrive at Big John's lots, including Dunwoody Village.
  2. Friday, Nov. 20. Little River Farms opens for 2026.
  3. Saturday, Nov. 21. Bottoms and Kinsey both open. Santa is at Bottoms from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for free family photos.
  4. Thursday, Nov. 26. Thanksgiving. Kinsey is closed.
  5. Saturday, Nov. 28. Santa returns to Bottoms, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  6. Saturday, Dec. 5. Santa's last scheduled visit to Bottoms, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It also falls on the first weekend in December, which Bottoms says is generally as long as its strongest Fraser selection lasts.
  7. Saturday, Dec. 19. Bottoms' last day of the season.

After the first Saturday in December, a farm tree mostly has to fit into a Saturday. If your family usually waited until mid-December and stopped at the Woodstock Road lot on a weeknight, this is the year to move the trip up. The other choice is driving to Dunwoody after dinner.

After the holidays

The tree still has to go somewhere in January. Roswell's sanitation page lists "Bring One for the Chipper" as an annual January event sponsored by Keep Roswell Beautiful. The city posts the details on its holiday sanitation schedule page, which is the place to check after New Year's.
